First, what a great two days of tournament ball! Its so nice to have twelve girls who could all be starters but are willing to accept whatever roll I ask them to play in the moment. I know they dont always like the signs they get but they step up and do their job. Pitching and catching were top notch! We had some games where one pitcher pitched the entire game and others where different pitchers with different styles shared mound time and worked together to get us where we needed to be. I was so proud of our strong and aggressive hitting, fielding, and base running! Outfielders worked hard tracking the ball and made smart decisions about when to be a super stars and when to play it safe. Infielders constantly made the routines and threw in a few spectacular plays for good measure. I was pleased to see the girls looking for the secondary out rather than settling for just one, whether it was an infielder catching a line drive and picking off a runner leaving base or an outfielder catching a pop fly and throwing out a runner who failed to tag up. It was an overall good weekend but the last game was a nail biter for the players, coaches and spectators. These girls dug deep and fought hard to the last moment. They played with heart and class and they never once hung their head and shut down. I could not be more proud of how they played the game! Comets, be proud! YOU played your way into the gold bracket and YOU fought your way to the championship game. YOU showed an older, more experienced team just how tough you are! Coach Andy
