Firstly, I love the Tory Party, I love the United Kingdom, I love the British Crown, but this article is right-wing, Tory propaganda, which selectively presents the facts. Secondly, what are the facts? 1) Gavrilo Princip, a murderous and ungrateful Serb, murdered the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This was the principle cause behind WWI. Germany acted as any ally would do in this situation. If a treacherous Scot shot Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, G-d forbid such sins, I deprecate such horrors, then the U.S. would assure the Crown their support and assistance in the apprehension of the low-life scum who should suffer the most painful death imaginable. Also, people forget that the Archdukes wife was murdered as well. She was pregnant too. Princip, whose soul should eternally rot in the fiery pits Hell, shot an unarmed and pregnant Duchess. Are you mad Boris Johnson?!?! The Kaiser Wilhelm II, who is the most misrepresented German figure in history, was actually good friends with the Archduke, so his frustration about his untimely death was genuine. He did not use the murder of his dear friend to commission more death via war. Tory propaganda! 2) All of the Europeans countries, especially the most arrogant, sinful, back-stabbing French, wanted war then. They all prepared for war. Johnson partially shows how the Schlieffen Plan was drawn well in advance before WWI, but he failed to show how France also had plans of invasion as well. All of the great nations had plans of invasions.The Germans knew this, and that is why they struck first. Johnson has probably never served a day in the military in his life. He has probably never had any training in the Art of War either. To be on the advance and control the momentum of war is what every skilled general aims to do. Why the hell would Germany wait for France to attack her firs?!?!? Madness! France was certainly going to attack Germany, because they were still pissed off when Moltke humbled their pride in the Franco-Prussian war, and then took their land as well. The Germans are in a very precarious geographical position, which does not favor a two front war. This is why they sought to attack France first, and then take care of the Russians later. This is why they did this again in WWII, because military strategy suggest that this is the best plan of action. It is not good to divide ones forces against separate enemies, because concentration of force diminishes. Johnson would know this if he had ever even picked up a book on military strategy at all! The sorry, envious French have more blood on their hands in that war than the Germans. 3) WWII was certainly started by the Germans in the short term. However, the long term cause of the war starts with the unjust Treaty of Versailles that was rammed down Germanys throat by the, non-other, arrogant French! Historians have well documented Hitlers rise, and it has been established that the NSDAP was not popular amongst the Germans. The only reason Hitler was elected, along with the other murderous thugs in his anti-Semitic party, was because of the Great Depression, which put more financial pains upon Germany to pay for the unjust reparations levied against them by the envious, vengeful French. In other words, if there were no Treaty and arrogant French, then would not have been a WWII. 4) The Kaiser actually tried to stop WWI, but his generals had already hijacked the Crowns authority by then. The Kaiser was also disgusted by Hitlers and his partys thuggery, which they employed to get into power. Also, the Kaiser asked Hitler to restore the Monarchy, but he refused. It turns out that Hitler did not like the Kaiser. It is funny, yet disgusting, how this contemptible man, Johnson, forgot to mention that detail when he tried to paint Hitler as another Wilhelm II, whose father, Wilhelm I, emancipated the Jews in 1871 in Germany in the first place.
