Five QPR players who could leave in January We take a look at the Rangers players who could be movers, including a former Manchester City player, one-time Arsenal target and Britains notoriety figure. Shaun Wright-Phillips Once an England international playing for the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, Wright-Phillips’ career has hit a dead-end at QPR. A frustrating player with increasingly little end product, the arrivals of Junior Hoilett and Matt Phillips on the Rangers wing have relegated SWP to the bench, and clearly his days as a regular first-team player at QPR are over. The question is whether Wright-Phillips has the hunger to seek a new challenge away from the comfort of west London. Andy Johnson Johnson had his foot virtually in the door at Crystal Palace during the summer, before QPR pulled the plug on the move just after the very last minute. Johnson was understood to be furious, and the striker has been injured virtually ever since. Will Palace come in for him again in January? Perhaps less likely, given the departure of Ian Holloway. However, Johnson is another who wants first-team football, and at the age of 32, he is running out of time to get it. A move, however, would largely depend on whether Harry Redknapp wants to deplete his strike-force. If he can bring in a striker or two, Johnson may be off. Julio Cesar We know. It has to happen soon. Right? Joey Barton An unpalatable thought for QPR fans, but not impossible. Barton has been outstanding for QPR this season, but clearly still pines for his move to Marseille. Should the Ligue 1 side, or even a Premier League team, show interest in the new year, it is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that Barton could leave the Championship club. A player whose only loyalty appears to be to himself (in many ways, you have to applaud him for that) Barton still believes he can play at the very top, and he wants to prove it. A situation to watch. Luke Young Poor old Young has not made a first-team appearance for almost two years thanks to a hip condition. He did make the bench for QPR’s recent game against Charlton Athletic, suggesting that the former Tottenham Hotspur man may be close to full fitness. But he is a long way from the first team at the moment, and Redknapp will almost certainly want to bring in a right-back of real quality should he look for back-up for Danny Simpson.
