Five youth martyred in Kupwara World urged to break silence over Kashmir In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism killed, at least, five Kashmiri youth at Keran in Kupwara. The army claimed that the youth were killed in a gunfight. Further details are awaited. Liberation leaders including Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah speaking at a roundtable conference in Srinagar called upon the international community to break its criminal silence over Kashmir and play its role in resolving the dispute according to the Kashmiris’ aspirations. The leaders said that police and army were targeting people aged between 18 to 35 years to eliminate the Kashmiris’ younger generation. The authorities slapped another detention order under draconian Public Safety Act on illegally detained liberation leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and shifted him from Central Jail Srinagar to Udhampur Jail in Jammu. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan in their separate statements denounced the act. Indian police resorted to baton charge on hundreds of government employees who made an attempt to besiege civil secretariat in Srinagar in protest against the anti-people policies of the authorities. Over 100 employees were arrested, while two were critically injured in the police action. Families of the victims of 2010 Machil fake encounter staged a sit-in protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar against the authorities’ failure to bring the perpetrators to justice. APHC leader, Yasmeen Raja in a statement in Srinagar reiterated the Kashmiris’ pledge to continue freedom struggle till accomplishment of martyrs’ mission. In Islamabad, the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement expressed apprehension that the gunning down of innocent youth by Indian forces could cause a setback to already fragile peace efforts between Pakistan and India.
