If you have been invited to this event (most likely by me hehehe) then congratulations! You are a part of Roosevelt University (or will be) AND you have a vagina! What and accomplishment! Id like to address some FAQs, and Ive attempted to make them at least a little entertaining: Q: Why would I join a sorority? I dont drink fat free lattes every morning, I dont shop at Abercrombie, and I dont have a boyfriend named Chad. A: Sororities are not just for throwing mixers and wearing platform shoes (well, not all of them at least). SAI is, in reality, a well respected organization, and its been around since 1903. There are a lot of opportunities available to members, but here are just a few examples: scholarships, networking, and jobs. Q: How would I be able to make time for SAI if Im a full time student? A: Easy: SAI makes time for you. There are weekly meetings on the sixth floor auditorium building, and unless we have big things to do or discuss, theyre pretty short. Usually around a half hour, if I remember correctly, and since were all students, all girls, and all musicians, its hard to find a problem that not even one of us can relate to. Its okay if you cant make every meeting or event (as long as you have a good reason, of course). Q: This sounds like a lot of prissy girly stuff, and Im not into that. A: 40% of the time, only 60% of us act girly, and I challenge you to find a room full of women with a ratio like that. Or, you know, you could come to one of our events and see for yourself :p Q: I already have friends... why would I join a sorority? A: We all have friends too! But its nice to meet people in conservatory that you can be sure arent plotting your musical downfall. Q: Im on the fence. plz help A: Is that even a question? Q: I thought I was the one asking questions? A: Okay, good. Well, if youre still thinking about it, here are some things I got to do this year, that I wouldnt have done without SAI: -pot luck/baking nights, which were a nice escape from dorm food -group photos--dont pretend you dont like getting pretty and having your photo taken with your friends. -group outings! musical, lyric opera, cubs game, zoo, concerts (real ones) and moooore -supporting sisters at school concerts and recitals! it makes a huge difference -Relay for life, which was actually a lot of fun coming from a lazy cynical person like myself -arts and crafts! AND SO MUCH MORE So message Ally Perko with all your questions and concerns, or hit me up in the inbox area and Ill give you all the dirty details that arent appropriate for the public eye (wink wink) OH and if you know any other girls who will be a part of Roosevelt this fall, invite them! You only need ONE music credit in your ENTIRE FOUR YEARS at school to be a part of SAI c:
