Flags are at half-staff today in honor of Sgt. Shawn M. Farrell II, a Fort Drum soldier from Accord, N.Y. who died in Afghanistan on April 28. He died in Nejrab District, Kapisa Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire while on dismounted patrol. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
