Margaret Bentzen phone: 928 556 2300 [email protected] Flagstaff Trespasser Abatement Deployment A joint cooperative effort between the City of Flagstaff Police Department And the BNSF Railway Police Flagstaff AZ (July 24-25, 2014) The Flagstaff Police Department in conjunction with the BNSF Railway Police conducted a joint effort at reducing trespasses on the train tracks on July 24, and July 25th. A job safety briefing was conducted each day prior to the start of the activities. Topics included general safety around the railway infrastructure, officer safety, and changing weather scenarios. During the two days of activity there were five trespassing charges referred to Flagstaff Justice Court, four trespassing charges referred to the Flagstaff City Court, and two drug related offenses referred to the Flagstaff City Court. The combined efforts of these two agency’s resulted in a heightened awareness to the community of the dangers of trespassing on the rail road tracks, as well as zero tolerance to any infractions near or on the railroad. xxx
