Flair’s little garden is in. She is so excited. She has planted, tomatoes, green peppers, red peppers, yellow peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, zucchini, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, cilantro, cherry tomatoes and romas. Her mouth is already watering. Big S is really helpful this year, really helpful. This is such a change. Flair will take it though. After Flair chooses her goodies for her front garden, Big S helps her by adding fertilizer to her plants. Which we all do, but she was a little taken back by his fertilizer, wait it for it, fish blood water. Yep that’s right fish blood water. Let’s not forget some fish guts too. He went old school. Flair just hopes he just didn’t kill everything. She keeps quite, for now. If it doesn’t work and she has to replant she will let him have it. Both barrels that’s for sure. Spring is coming along nicely. And guess what, her plants look really good, I mean really good. Ok, he was right. Boy that just bites, as she laughs to herself. She is enjoying watching her little garden grow again this year. Flair goes out there, works the ground with her hands, enjoys the sun shine and plays in the water. Sometimes, the cats help her. If she is really lucky Peady will help her play in the water too. It off to a great start so far! She and Big S are fixing dinner and listening to the news. Big weather changes. Hmmm. They were not too worried about it. After all it is May. Things should be good. Rain, ok that won’t hurt their garden. Wait. Snow. Did they really just say snow? They did. Big S and Flair look at each other, ok, now they’re worried. So off they go to find supplies. Plastic bottles, plastic sheets, old sheets, beach towels, straw lots of straw, and 5 gallon buckets. Anything they can find to protect their young plants. Good thing, they hadn’t started in the back garden yet. Can they keep their young plants alive? How long will this cold snap last? Why does old man winter have to be so cruel? Everyday Flair and Big S go out there to check their garden. So far so good.
