Flashback Friday Film: Happy Friday Synth-heads! This weeks pick, 1988s Maniac Cop directed by William Lustic, is a slasher film that spawned two sequels. Innocent people are being murdered in the streets by someone wearing a New York City police uniform. Investigator Frank McCrae(Tom Atkins) believes young Officer Jack Forrest(Bruce Campbell) is the prime suspect when hes set up by the actual killer. After further investigating Detective McCrae finds out the killer is really Matt Cordell(Robert ZDar), a highly respected police officer thought to have been framed and sent to prison where he was murdered by inmates, but before McCrae can prove it Cordell kills him. Now, Officer Forrest must escape custody, prove his innocence and put an end to Cordells maniacal rampage! This film is gritty and rough, with a suspenseful score by Jay Chattaway, including an adrenaline inducing chase scene track near the end!
