Flight report 3 Morovis PR. Went early in the day as a variation, with 4 local pilots and conditions were good for sustained flight. Had a cravat on one attempted takeoff, and brought it back down. On next attempt ,I caught a thermal right off launch and got 400 over. Boated around into a flush cycle and went on desperate thermal search mode. Found a trickle 200 feet off the LZ and nursed it back to launch where it morphed into 800 ft per minute up monster thermal which took me to 3500 above and behind launch. Decided to purposely land to get a ride back to my car on top. Attempted spiral dive but kept blundering into thermals and going back up. Searched for lines of sink and finally found one over the cool water of the river. Spirals, then big ears gave me rapid(6-800) descent to LZ. Warned of thermic turbulence in same By Luca on radio, had me keep big ears all the way to a somewhat violent but purposeful landing. I think I will release big ears and brake simultaneously just before contact next time, as this has worked well in the past. The instructor, Jose, kept beginning pilot Leo on the hill due to thermic air. Luca flew first and had some low saves before succumbing to the flush cycle which almost got me. Intermediate pilot Malolo, Had a mid day launch, big ears descent and successful landing. The locals stayed for afternoon flying and I headed back to San Juan for afternoon work. From above launch it would have been easy to go with the wind, across the valley behind, to the next ridge and repeat. Plenty of fields and friendly locals. Thanks Morovis paragliders.
