Florence looked frail, and frankly, a bit tipsy when I saw her at the bake sale after church. I asked her how she was doing. She said, Last winter I fell and broke my hip, a rib and my shoulder. Its slowed me down some. Are you still walking outside? I asked. Im down to two and a half miles and Im not happy about it. As she said this, she reached out with one hand to grip the wall. She had been swaying on her feet like a sailor just come ashore. Ill just wait here until somebody can walk me home. Why dont you use a cane, I asked? Canes, she said with a twinkle in her eye, are for old folks. Im only 98. Florence knew she was old and that her days were numbered. At 98 years old shed spent more than thirty-five thousand eight hundred days on earth. How many days will you get? How many days will I get? On the Otherside, in eternity, where Florence lives now, there is no time; all these days of ours will feel like a wink of an eye, and there we will bathe in a Peace and Love that knows no end. Lets Pray: Dear God, life may feel long and harsh. We pray for those who want to exit early, that they wait until their appointed time, and that they and we have eyes to see heaven here to make it a bit easier for all of us until we teeter over into our departure.
