Florida and the world has suffered a tragic loss that might be - TopicsExpress

Florida and the world has suffered a tragic loss that might be gone in person, but will live on in the hearts and eyes of those who are honored enough to possess one of the great works of his art in our homes. Robert Butler, an African American Native Floridian has passed away. Of the many people, in all walks of life, I had the distinct pleasure to have met this gentleman had a large impact on my life. Thank you, Ned Dickman and Glenn Dickman for exposing me to such a humble man who could create a Florida scene and bring it to life. I find myself looking over my pasture and see live oaks and moss swaying in the wind and think to myself thats a Robert Butler scene. As I see cattle in pastures, palmetto bluffs, cypress heads I often find myself comparing them to a painting Mr. Butler would bring to life The light of day, birds in flight, transported one to possibly a location never before witnessed. My fathers duck calls (way before Duck Dynasty) hang from a gift from Dottie and Ned, the print of Days End, and Sylvan Pines on the mantle or Lake Eloise hung like a window to the world outside. If youve never been exposed to Mr Butlers work, seek it out. He was a member of a group of artists called the Florida Highwaymen who, at a time of great change in this country, were able to travel and share their works with the public all throughout Florida. Rest in peace kind and gentle man, youve left a legacy for us all, and for that I am forever grateful.
