Fluoride binds to magnesium and inhibits the release of magnesium from bone. Fluoride has also been found to increase absorption of aluminium ten fold and aluminium fluoride complexes bind to bone. This paper shows how both magnesium and aluminium in bone are associated with bone pain and how fluoride is associated with reduced micro hardness of bone, thereby increasing risk of bone fracture in patients with kidney abnormalities who are unable to excrete fluoride, resulting in increased retention in bone and other organs. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/14751580/
