#Flydubai daily direct flights to #boostbusiness The business community in Uganda has welcomed the launch of direct flights from Entebbe to Dubai saying the move will create competition among the service providers which will later lead to reduced cost of transport. Everest Kayondo, the chairman of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) said that since the new airline offers more days it makes it easier for the business man to bring in more items Uganda. “The effort to have more airlines in the market is good for us because it creates competition which helps us in reducing the fees,” said Kayondo. Isaac Mugisha a tour operator who attended the launch of the airline said that the fly Dubai will see more tourists from the United Arab Emirates come to Uganda easily instead of waiting or using transit airlines to Uganda. Their comments follow the launch of Flydubia, which will make it easier for not only the business community but other people who would like to visit Dubai and Uganda. The airline company also offers direct routes from Entebbe to Bujumbura which has not been the case before. With the launch of daily direct flights to Entebbe, two onward flights a week to Kigali and three onward flights a week to Bujumbura, coupled with the recent announcement of three new routes in Tanzania, fly Dubai has doubled its presence in Africa to 12 destinations. Commenting on the launch of the Entebbe route, the chief Commercial Officer Fly Dubai Hamad Obaidalla said the daily flights will facilitate the flow of tourism and business between Uganda and the UAE. Presiding over the function, minister of works and transport, Abraham Byandala said that government through the Civil Aviation Authority is taking necessary initiative to improve services and ensure a stable working environment. He said that direct flights by Flydubai between Dubai and Entebbe will go along way in supporting and stimulating trade and tourism between the two countries. He said that the launch of a director flight will help address the increasing number of travelers in the recent times. Statistics from the CAA show that Entebbe International Airport registered 1,464,004 international passengers in 2013 compared to 1,342114 in 2012 an indication of a 9% growth. Byandala said that government is intensifying efforts to make sure that supporting infrastructure like roads are complete to complement activities of the airport and investors coming into the country. “The Entebbe express highway between Kampala City and Entebbe International Airport is a further testimony of Government’s commitment not only to improve air transport service facilitation but also to cause the required linkage between the various transport modes in the country,” said Byandala.
