“Flying Lesson” There is a beautiful story behind this little fellow……a story that will touch your hearts. While on a walk with my daughter Kassee, we saw this little creature as he was “flopping” around on the pavement as though he was trying his best to fly. It was apparent that he had been injured somehow, as we stopped to look at him. We both felt badly for him and really did not want to leave him in what seemed to be misery. I thought of what might be the “humane” thing to do and that would be to “put him out of his misery.” But……me being me……I just could not do it. So we continued on our walk after about two minutes of watching him helplessly trying to take off into flight. As we walked away we both just looked at each other as if to say “Sad.” The walk took us about fifteen to twenty minutes down the walking trail; and along the way we passed three bicyclists at which point I said to my daughter,” They will probably not see him run over the little fellow.” My daughter just nodded in sadness. As we walked back along the trail neither of us had mentioned the little guy again. However, to our great surprise as we were nearing the spot where we had seen him struggling to lift himself into flight, we saw him taking flight in such a graceful manner. It was as though he first took off in such ease and slowness that he seemed to be mesmerized by his own strength. Then suddenly as we stopped right in front of him, he took off in such a great force of flight. It was as though he had never been injured or wounded. I simply looked at my daughter and said, “That just goes to show us that no matter how great the struggle, those who never give up always take flight in their destiny.” My daughter just smiled and said, “Wow! I did not think he would make it, mom, when we first saw him.” While out on a walk I can surely say with confidence that we were give a great “flying lesson” and I wanted to share it with you guys.
