Focus on the Forum: W11: HOT TOPICS IN ETHICS IN THE PRACTICE OF FRANCHISE LAW This program will examine a number of the most vexing and difficult ethics issues confronting franchise lawyers. The panel will discuss the ethical rules governing communicating with parties who are not represented by counsel, communication with a franchisee who is a member of an association that is represented by counsel, contingent, fixed and alternative fee arrangements, preservation of the attorney-client privilege, advising clients on their communications with parties who are represented by counsel, ethical issues in using technology, and the circumstances under which a lawyer must intervene if he or she knows the client is not being truthful with a tribunal or is withholding documents or information.
