Foggy and warm this morning. So warm in fact that we already had a high of 52 and that is a new record. Previous record was 49 in 1957. Temperatures have already fallen into the low 40s by 6:00 AM and will continue to fall throughout the day. Rain will move in from the south this morning and will change to sleet and snow throughout the day. SW Minnesota will see this changeover occur in the afternoon. Mankato and areas to the east wont start to change until the evening. SW Minnesota could be quite icy, thats why there is a Winter Storm Warning from 10:00 AM to Midnight. Surrounding that warning is a Winter Weather Advisory for the same time. Mankato is not under any alert. The possibility of sleet and freezing rain that could stick to the ground is the primary issue. There will be light snow though, with heavier amounts in SW Minnesota. Mankato will receive 2 or less. More snow is possible if the changeover occurs sooner. In fact, that would be ideal since that would limit the ice threat. The system moves out tomorrow morning, leaving quiet conditions and more seasonable temperatures for next week. keyc/weather -Jack
