Folks have commented on previous videos about how some people can just carry on with business as usual while shocking acts of violence take place in their immediate presence - the reason for this is normalcy bias, or the tendency to deny that such an act is happening, to deny that you can or should intervene, and to assume that you can keep doing what you were doing without harm or blame. Its a completely typical and normal human reaction, and not something to blame or scorn others for. However, if you are serious about active self protection and protecting your loved ones, you need to be aware of your own tendency towards normalcy bias, and be able to override it - as Kathy Cornered Cat Jackson puts it, you need to give yourself permission to defend yourself.
