Folks, posting the Universal Commercial Code (UCC) in your - TopicsExpress

Folks, posting the Universal Commercial Code (UCC) in your Facebook status does absolutely nothing. If you agreed to the terms of service and the policies of Facebook BEFORE it became a publicly traded company, those policies did not and cannot change. If you no longer wish to abide by those policies, you basically have a few options: 1) dont sign up for an account with Facebook; 2) bilaterally negotiate a contract with Facebook (good luck with that!); 3) lobby for Facebook to change its governance policies with other users; and 4) delete your account at which time the use granted to Facebook will end immediately (however, any content of yours that is retained by any of your friends is still fair game). The email that is going around is misleading. You have NOT given up your copyright to any of the material you have posted to Facebook; you have simply agreed to allow them to use any of your public postings. That was done when you originally signed up for Facebook. I hope this clears up the misunderstanding. We will run a story in our papers this week regarding this policy and misunderstanding.
