Follow up on yesterdays story of an escaped wild cat in Las Vegas - No citation was issued, a Las Vegas spokeswoman said. Nevada is one of the six states that allows ownership of exotic animals. In order to legally keep them, the city must issue a wild animal permit. All monkeys, lions, ferrets and cats, besides house cats, are included on the exotic list. Owners must also follow state and federal regulations. This is why we are pushing for national legislation and hope youll help by signing the letters found here: ifaw.org/united-states/get-involved/tell-congress-protect-people-and-big-cats and here: ifaw.org/united-states/get-involved/ask-senate-protect-people-and-big-cats if you are a US citizen registered to vote.
