Following a day of rest yesterday, our volunteers are back at the Astoria Centre today, working on the installation of the Compton Cinema Organ. Some of our volunteers are working in the chambers, putting the final pieces of the new wooden wind trunks together, ready for the installation of the regulators. Work continues on the additional regulators and fitting of new gaskets. The Astoria console is now taking shape. Some of the stop sweeps have been trail fitted, following the fitting of the new back stop rail to accommodate the 2nd touches & trems etc. New Compton replica tabs are being engraved for the console, like the ones shown in this photograph. We supplied the stops shown to the NOF in the Netherlands for use on their Compton installed at the Haarlem Organ Museum. These are exact copies of the original stop tabs and the engraving has been matched exactly to the originals from our extensive library of original Compton Stop Tabs, which cover most periods of Comptons development and design.
