Following on from the previous post, Hampshire Police have issued a press statement: Police are appealing for information after five burglaries in Warsash, near Fareham. The burglaries took place on the evening of Thursday, December 4 on Raley Road, Hunts Pond Road, Fleet End Road and at two addresses on Bedford Drive. The offenders forced entry to the properties and once inside stole various items including jewellery, a cream marble effect electric fire and Christmas presents. Detective Constable Sandra Peet, said: “I would encourage anyone with information about these burglaries to come forward and speak to us. If you witness any suspicious activity please report it to the police immediately. The electric fire is fairly distinctive and I would appeal to anyone who has been offered this item, or any other items they believe may have been stolen, for sale, to come forward. Officers are offering the following advice to help keep your home safe during the darker evenings: - Use timer switches (available from most D.I.Y stores) to switch on lights and radios while you are away from the home to make it look and sound occupied. - Ensure you shut and lock windows and doors. - Ensure you have used padlocks on the side gates to deny access to the rear of the property. - Ensure your outside lighting is in working order (consider low level ambient light on a dusk to dawn sensor) this will activate even when you are not at home. - Secure your garden tools and garden equipment in a locked and alarmed shed or garage for the winter so that they cannot be used to gain entry to your home. - Property mark belongings with your house number and postcode, keep a list of any makes, models and serial numbers. Take photos of jewellery. Register your items for free at immobilise. Using this service will assist the police in returning property to the rightful owner should it be stolen. - Make an assessment of your home security; fit extra door and window locks. If you are feeling vulnerable or are elderly, ask for a free home safety and security survey by the Bobby Trust - or call 0300 777 0157 for an appointment. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Fareham CID by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
