Following our attempt to monitor the dry off over Sahel we recently invited you to have a glance at the EUMETSAT output of Total Precipitable Water (TPW). we have good reasons to think that this product can be a better guidance of intra-seasonal variations; Regarding the image, TPW of the 28th of august 2013, shown to you last time and comparing it to the image of 16th of september 2013, we clearly notice the widening and also the shifting down of the Dry air over North Niger and marked with blue color. When this blue coloured space will reach the south Niger and cover all Niger and maintain this process during almost one or two weeks, surely we can declare the totally end of the rainy season over this domain; By the way we also invite you to notice the maintain of the red color, indications of always possible rainy activities, over a large part of Western and Central Sahel (Senegal, south Mali and Burkina Faso) contrary to Eastern Sahel (Niger, Chad and Sudan) where the southward descending of the blue coloured dry air continue its process.
