Following questions raised yesterday regarding the current - TopicsExpress

Following questions raised yesterday regarding the current petition seen around town and the reluctance to believe that Bridgnorth residents are paying more than others for local services, N&V have done some research to check the true position. By no means is the research exhaustive, but results have certainly not been cherry picked in an effort to distort anything. Moreover, we have supplied more information so that N&V members have a better idea of the true picture. In the first diagram, you can see the local taxes for towns near us, together with the population of those towns (sorry I could only find 2011 figures from the last census. Then you can see the budgets set by each town council and finally what that equates to per person. Two towns have a higher tax than Bridgnorth, although they have small populations which could be a reason. When you look at the amount of expenditure per head of the population, only Much Wenlock is higher than Bridgnorth, a town with one sixth of the population. In the second diagram, we have searched for towns across the country which have the same population as Bridgnorth, to see if our tax is higher than theirs.
