Followup with the Crohns specialist today in London. No question, - TopicsExpress

Followup with the Crohns specialist today in London. No question, the Entocort drug worked well, however, I was told I it is not for prolonged use. Options for other, longer term treatments are limited due to my cancer diagnosis. And the doc says, we could remove the diseased section of your bowel, but not sure you want that surgery. Finally he says how do you feel about giving yourself injections? (First instinct was to RUN!) After pulling my mind out of total panic mode, I say Ive been known to faint when others inject me, heck I feel faint watching the vet inject our dog! So lets just say not too fond of the idea. We settled on me taking weekly trips to my family doc for injections of Methotrexate. I guess my wonderful life of Entocort steroid use is scheduled to be phased out ;(. This new drug sure makes me nervous. I hope it works as well as the Entocort. And because I can no longer take standard arthritis meds, I am being referred to a rheumatologist. Apparently this new drug also can be used to treat arthritic flare ups. What a bonus!
