Foo Fighters covered the Black Sabbath classic War Pigs during the first night of their week-long residency on CBS-TVs Late Show With David Letterman. The band was joined by country-folk star Zac Brown for the performance, while frontman Dave Grohl also sat for an interview with host David Letterman. Tuesday nights (October 14th) broadcast featured a run through Hearts Kick It Out with that bands Ann and Nancy Wilson as the surprise guest performers. The residency continues through Friday (October 17th), when the bands Sonic Highways documentary series will premiere on HBO. Foo Fighters has avoided performing new material so far, although a single called Something From Nothing is scheduled to hit the airwaves and the Web on Thursday (October 16th). The Sonic Highways album is due out on November 11th. The disc was recorded at iconic studios in eight different U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, New Orleans, Nashville and Austin. Foo Fighters has teamed up with Facebook to celebrate the HBO premiere of Sonic Highways. Immediately following the premiere episode, the band will perform a set at Chicago’s Cubby Bear venue, where Grohl saw his very first punk rock show.
