One year ago today, I asked my best friend to take a walk with me. The timing was perfect. Our toes were curled in the sand just as the sun rose on the horizon. It seemed to be the most perfect site along the beach. I remember clearly, it was in fact the most perfect site in the world, exactly where the white silky soft sand met the orange, yellow, and purple sky. I was more than familiar with this moment. I had seen it in my dreams over and over again. I was bed headed, sleepy eyed, and wearing the white t-shirt of mine that she had slept in. I reached into the pocket of my pants and grasped the little red jewelry box I had tried so hard to keep hidden. I turned to her, taking one last look at the girl who had swept me off my feet as she was so beautifully concentrated on the waves crashing along the shore, but quickly I was reminded of the woman she had become. This made me smile. As I smiled, I said her name under my breath. My throat was closing up and my eyes soon swelled with tears. She looked towards me and opened her mouth to ask me what was the matter but before she could get the first word out, I had already taken her hand and dropped to a knee. This was our moment. The moment we both had been waiting our whole lives for, and in that moment, that beautiful, extraordinary, heart pounding moment. I proposed to my best friend, the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most stunning individual, that we spend forever together. Since this moment Tobi has exceeded my expectations and desires thousandfold. As wonderful of a wife I had already known she would make, I didnt have the slightest clue as to how tremendously more wonderful she would be as a Mother. Today we celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, and the new life of our sweet, tenderhearted baby girl. Happy Birthday, Honey.
