Food bag of the day (number 48): Here is Alexandra Bulhões Maier story that came with the delivery of bag number 48. Family meal on a sunny Sunday and we headed to Teresopolis. Up in the mountains of Rio, the city is fab. Teresopolis is a well known touristic spot due to its geographic features. The bad said of the coin, is that some areas of the city are directly exposed to landslide hazards because of the steep terrain on heavy rains. Hundreds of people have been killed and many more made homeless. Airton, was a victim of one of those horrible natural disasters back in 2011. He lost a friend on a mudslide and his house on a flood. In one dramatic rescue he managed to be saved. I thought I was going to die, he said. He has been living in shelters since then. We met Airton at a gas station. He was there trying to protect himself from the hot weather. He is a really sad man, and didn’t talk too much with me. To be honest I didn’t expect him to. But thanks to you guys he will have some comfort food for a good period. And thanks to you Alexandra.
