Food for thought for Catholics....I know how important Matthew 16:18 is to Catholics where Jesus says thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church. But what is the Greek on this verse? Basically this is what Jesus said to Peter in Greek>> Thou art Peter (petros- small stone) and upon this rock (petra-large stone) I will build My church. So you see and read that Jesus did not build His church on Peter. Likely God foresaw the Catholic churchs rise and intentionally designed this verse to reveal that Jesus did not nor would have built His church on anyone but Himself. The petra or large stone was Peters confession in Matthew 16:16 Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God. The petra is the actual gospel....the good news.
