For 14 months my mom has lived with me...for nearly 49 years ive tried to be close to her..i know she loves me, and she knows i love her..weve told eachother that nearly every day of our lives...i could never crack that shell my mom has always had though...her early years were difficult, then i lost a brother when he was 12, and my moms way to cope may have been to toughen that shell just a bit more because life was tough..im the type of person who can pour out my feelings to those i love..i was blessed in that i learned that from my dad...he never had a feeling or an insight he didnt share with me..god i miss him so..but as i look into my mothers eyes...i see her..i see my mother who brushed my hair, and bought me skirts, and lovingly prepared meals..i see you Mom..the hospice nurse tells me to give her permission to let go..and i shake my head, and say i will..but am i ready to stop looking into her eyes?? Am i prepared to let go of the last parent i have?? i encourage you..whoever you are reading this...let it go..forgive your parents..honor them by just loving them..death comes for us all..dont let them die with you holding onto old stuff that in the long run, doesnt matter..
