For He (God) made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, Who (Jesus) knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Co 5:21) 1. Jesus had no sin. He had right-standing(righteousness) with God. He enjoyed complete, unbroken fellowship with God. Nothing ever stood between Him and God. 2. At the cross, He was literally made to be sin with YOUR sin and MINE. He paid the price we would have had to pay. So our sin and the penalty for it (debt) was cancelled! 3. He then GAVE us as a FREE Gift the righteousness (right standing with God) that He earned by never sinning and keeping all of Gods commands while in the earth. As believers, we now have (as a gift) the same standing before God that Jesus enjoyed. We were not given a righteousness from God, but THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD; Gods own standard of righteousness, 4. Because of all that Jesus did, we now can stand before God with no sense of guilt, unworthiness or condemnation. We can now enjoy complete, unbroken fellowship with God. NOTHING can now stand between us and God.
