For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11 (NIV2011) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8 (NIV2011) God is an awesome God! He has plans for His people; plans to prosper His people and plans that give hope and assure a future. God will prepare us and equip us for His plans, but not in a way that is consistent with the way man would. He tells us that His ways are not our ways, that His thoughts are not our thoughts. If we are obedient children of the Almighty, then we will want His training and His equipping, even if that involves discipline. God’s discipline is from the hand of the One who loves us and only wants good things for us. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Heb 12:11 (NIV2011) Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:6 (NIV2011)
