For Immediate Release During the early morning hours of July 19, 2014 the Jackson Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot but the investigating officer was able to detain two occupants of the vehicle. An investigation ensued in which: David M. Knight of Jackson, MO Age 22 was found to be in possession of a loaded and concealed handgun. The other occupant: Sara D. Rucker of Jackson, MO Age 34 was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. David M. Knight was charged through the Cape Girardeau County State Prosecutors Office with the Class D Felony of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was issued a $7,500 bond. Sara D. Rucker was charged through the Cape Girardeau County State Prosecutors Office with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was issued a $20,000 bond. The charge of an offense is merely an accusation or allegation. The defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.
