For Immediate Release WINNIPEG - On January 28th all of Canada and Winnipeg will see a national day of education from Idle No More. The Gift of Treaties is the theme being presented at a teach-in facilitated by Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair with a public Q&A session following. Treaties are what all Canadians are guided by to set the future path for all of us; We are all going to be in Canada together for generations to come and it is essential that treaty be understood and reflected upon to prevent Canada from walking a path of ignorance and fear. With the rights of treaty now guaranteed, all Canadians have the Constitutional right to live side by side in good relations with each other in treaty. Idle No More Manitoba welcomes all cultural communities to share in the gift of treaties with food, entertainment, and interactive exercises. Where: The Circle of Life Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street, Winnipeg MB When: Tuesday January 28, 2014, 5pm – 9pm The program starts with an opening pipe ceremony led by traditional spiritual leaders. The Zhaawano-Benisi Women’s Drum Group will be leading. After the teach-in with Niigaan and public Q&A, we will share in a potluck feast and enjoy entertainment by Lucien Spence. To conclude the evening community youth leaders including Michael Champagne from Meet Me at the Bell Tower will lead all of the audience through an interactive treaty engagement exercise. Also attending will be Althea Guiboche of Got Bannock?, along with Jeff Menard of Got Land? Thank an Indian.
