For Sale Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border (between Chippenham and Bath) £2500 15.1/2hh rising 6 Dark Bay Connemara x TB Mare. Dee is a very sweet little mare, loves being fussed and is very willing to please. She has been schooling nicely on the flat, carrying herself in an outline, she has 3 correct paces. She jumps very quietly; I have only jumped her at home and have not jumped her around a course of jumps, but I have jumped her through a grid that went up to 80cm and despite it being her first proper attempt at a full grid, she took it all in her stride and popped through it very quietly and easily, showing scope to go higher. She hacks quietly both along country roads with tractors roaring around corners and cows and sheep, she really doesnt care, and has hacked along a busy A road and didnt care about lorries, buses, bikes etc. However, she is still very baby, having only being broken last year (2013) and not having a great start to life (she was a rescue, although we do not what happened to her before she was found). She does try hard, but she is also strong-willed, and I have not been able to build a bond with her as she takes the mickey with me, pushes me around on the ground and sometimes runs off at turnout (as youre taking her out/before youve taken her head-collar off). We have found ways to prevent her from doing this (taking out tit-bits, feeds, different head-collars etc) and they will work for a while but then she will just catch you off-guard one day. We do not think she was handled much before we bought her, hence her misunderstanding and babyish behaviour on the ground. She is fine in regular work, but leave her too long and she starts bunny-hopping, she has bucked a few times out of babyishness but nothing nasty or unseating. She will make a really lovely horse for someone with the time and experience that she needs, and honestly, I have over-horsed myself and do not have the experience to bring on her on, so I think it has just been a bad match. She has never been malicious or nasty, just babyish, inexperienced, thrown a tantrum at times when she’s not had her way etc, but she is SO sweet, and I think she is something really special and would be amazing with the right rider, and I am gutted I could not bring out her potential, but sometimes it is better to admit defeat and know when things arent right, and give the both of us our best chance. I have loads more photos and some videos, and please dont hesitate to ask me anything or just have a chat. NO novices, please – she really does need an experienced, competent rider. https://youtube/watch?v=pX8cEdv4u8Y&list=UUhV9vWJtlulLyJtxf8CS83w https://youtube/watch?v=GzEoUCeNMeQ&index=2&list=UUhV9vWJtlulLyJtxf8CS83w
