For all ex Gokhalites.... Yesterday was our founder Ms Sarala Roys birth anniversary and Gokhale Memorial Girls School Alumni Association had arranged a reunion to mark this occasion. I am extremely happy that I could be a part of this celebration.Some of our extremely talented batchmates had even put up a song and dance recital based on Rabindranath Tagores Abhishar. The moment I stepped into the hall a sense of nostalgia engulfed me....nothing has changed. The interiors of the hall is exactly the same as we had left it 25 years back, the same fans with huge blades hanging from the very long rods, the chairs on the upper floor, the stage, the curtains.... everything reminds us of the house competitions & other events of our school life.The Piano still stands at the same corner. We went for a stroll through the corridors where bright yellow coloured walls have taken the place of blue and white paint of our time. We missed the round clock which used to adorn the wall opposite the school gate for darwanji to see and ring the bell....a square quartz clock has taken its place. The school ground is the same barring a few small changes, but the sand pit is not there any more.Met many of our seniors and juniors .....many of whose names I could not recall but could visualise them with their house ties.It was an excellent trip down the memory lane. I am glad to share a few pics so that you all can reconnect with your school days. I hope I am able to help all ex Gokhalites who are outside Kolkata to reminisce those days and motivate those who are in Kolkata to join us from next time.
