For all of the SR FEED BUYERS- (including myself) this was copied from a posting by Dale Moulton, the developer of THRIVE feed. There is no such thing as a senior feed, that is a marketing tool used by normal horse feed companies to sell product. Do they have senior grass, or senior water, I dont think so. This marketing strategy is called needs fulfillment, and in this case its the owners needs, not the horses. This is how it works. As older horses succumb to the effects of being fed normal horse feeds they become less efficient at utilizing forage, the mainstay of systemic energy. The feed nutritionalists then advocate a feed high in fat. Horses are not fat eaters, they are GRASS eaters. You cannot build and re-build muscle and other tissue from oils. So the horses grow a lovely layer of fat under their hide and the owner is happy. Meanwhile the horse is sick on the inside with a sludgy system having to deal with a diet it was never designed to handle. Horse feed companies sell their products to people, not to horses. People buy the feed the horses eat, and the feed companies market their products to the people, the horses have no say. And so the con job is complete, but people vigorously defend the very companies who are getting rich off their backs by selling them inappropriate nutrition for their beloved horses.
