For all of you skeptics who think that Pilates has nothing to - TopicsExpress

For all of you skeptics who think that Pilates has nothing to offer you, think again! Research has shown that Pilates also improves: Spinal mobility Flexibility Muscular endurance Posture Body awareness Alleviate Lower back pain Bone density Ones ability to properly engage the transverse abdominals (the deepest core muscles) Modern life creates environments where we sit slouched behind desks or steering wheels all day, then go to the gym and work our extremities, we dont use our core. If we dont concentrate on building a good foundation and a strong core, well end up tight in some places and weak in others, injury-prone and susceptible to the pitfalls of our occupation or chosen form of exercise. I often hear people saying Pilates isnt for me, its not sweaty/hard enough These also seem to be the same people who havent tried it yet and quite possibly have niggly knees, sore shoulders achy backs. Sound familiar? So even if you are a HIIT/Attack/Bootcamp/Insantiy lover (which are all good too), you may find you benefit from having a Pilates class inserted into your workout program. It will help improve you core strength and teach you how to move correctly, in turn helping you get faster results from your other workouts, and limit injury. It will also help keep you supple and in turn help the longevity of your training program. Beginners pilates classes are on at The Staddy in Staddiscombe, Plymouth. 8.15pm Monday evenings. Contact Karyn on 07831 849024 for more information.
