For all of you that know, or know of, Fritz Aileen Harmon, Caroles 102 year old aunt, heres a report on her current situation. She was admitted into Duncan hospital a couple of weeks ago and should be transferred to a care home in Victoria tomorrow. Carole and I have been quite involved with these adventures as have Sebastian, Brittany, Julia and Dan. Tomorrow, Carole will travel with Aileen in an ambulance to the Craigdarroch care home in Victoria. Ill follow in the car. After we see her safely and happily ensconced, well head up to a New Years celebration in Nanaimo. Then the following day, New Years Day, we will travel back down to Victoria where Carole will spend a couple days easing aileens transition into her new surroundings. To be clear, whats happening now is managing Fritz/Aileens final days, keeping her as comfortable as possible but not resorting to what the health care people call heroics. She still has considerable clarity of mind although the painkillers and various difficulties with her physical functioning do you get the way with communications. I will continue to post updates here as the story unfolds. Fritz will be 103 when her birthday occurs on January 14.
