For all the grandiose statements by our EU representatives about Russian intrusion, the Russian Federation has every reason to be concerned about institutions approaching its borders, after all it was western Europe that with Napoleon and with Hitler attacked her causing immense pain and calamities and past promises not to expand historically unfriendly institutions to its borders by western leaders since back in Gorbachevs times were systematically broken. When the following statement by EU Commission President Barroso resonates The era of limited sovereignty in Europe is over , it should be referred to every non EU power thinking it is entitled to meddle in European affairs... but is it? According to revelations on rendition prisons, systematic intrusion in the life and privacy of hundreds of millions of EU citizens the statement though welcome seems too week and too circumstantial to the Vilnius meeting.
