For all those people who secretly enjoy the deliciousness that is McDonalds, but also worry that they might be making Frankenstein Burgers that never rot or grow mould, then allow me to assuage those fears for you! It seems people like Morgan Spurlock and the many memes that flood the internet claiming the company engages in dubious food practices are really just passing off bad Science, and being intellectually dishonest by not being completely forthcoming about the results and the experimental controls in place. It seems both home made and McDonalds burgers do rot, if you expose them to a moisture rich environment. However, both a homemade and a McDonalds burger wont rot, if placed in a dry environment, as the small size of the burger allows for it to dehydrate (removing the moisture and medium for which mould (and life) can proliferate) faster than for the mould to grow. So go and buy yourself a triple cheese burger and enjoy it! Youve earned it, champ!
