For all those who think I believe every single person that voted - TopicsExpress

For all those who think I believe every single person that voted against a Cooper Union that charges tuition is against the institution, I would like to offer a counter: Ed Mokuvos. Ed Mokuvos has my respect because he came forward and said: “I am an alumni trustee, and I voted for the tuition plan.” I do not believe that he is a ringleader that is out to ruin the institution like Richard Lincer, Mark Epstein or Jamshed Barucha (and most probably Lawrence Cacciatore). I believe that Ed Mokuvos thought that if he voted against the tuition plan, his career would be ruined by the decision to oppose the aforementioned scumbags. He didn’t have the courage of Kevin Slavin, the political standing of John Leeper or the bankroll of Jeff Gural to stand up to Richard Lincer. I believe that Ed Mokuvos was bullied into casting a vote that he knew would be bad for the institution. I urge all trustees to come forward and admit their stance and explain their stance. I urge all trustees to have the courage of Ed Mokuvos – to at least say, “I voted for a Cooper Union with tuition.” And I urge all trustees to meet with the alumni association, to show their faces and help us better understand a decision that we do not understand. I urge all trustees who disagree with me to be more like Ed Mokuvos. Because he met me face to face. I urge all trustees who disagree with me to be less like Mark Epstein, less like Richard Lincer, less like Jamshed Barucha (and I urge Lawrence Cacciatore to actually call me back). But what am I? I am just an alumni who cares. An alumni who believes in Mike Borkowsky, who believes in the one year fund and believes there can still be a free architecture school operating out of the foundation building. If the entire school cannot be free, as it has since 1859, at least let us work towards ensuring that students of the architecture program never have to pay tuition. That at least one of the 3 schools can still live on as a meritocracy. oneyearfund
