For all you parents with children ages 3-7 you might be interested to know that an administration exists called "the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration" or NHTSA that releases reports from the FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) that will show, a car seat is not safer than a normal seat belt for children 3 years old and up. Even though in some states car seats are required for children as old as 7 years old. With more that 80% of car seats being installed incorrectly in some states the statistical average of young children being protected by a car seat is incredibly low. Even more so if the victim is hit in a rear end collision. These numbers are only for fatal car accidents and hospital outpatient records actually prove car seats to be effective in reducing the amount of injury sustained to a surviving child. Just something to think about. I would do some research and decide if you feel safer with or without a car seat.
