For all you supplement lovers out there Ive got some news for you! 90% of the supplements you are using are a waste of money. 90% dont need to take the amount of supplements they do. Taking a fat burner then youve just wasted your money. You burn fat by being in a calorie deficit. No herb or the like changes the energy balance equation. Taking all these pre, intra & post workout supplements chances are you dont need them. But on paper the sound like its essential for gainz. Sorry unlikely. Your diet determines that. Whether they contribute to your overall dietary intake in a positive manner or the fact you could just be wasting calories you could be enjoying in food is another. Using a hormone booster? Well you are living in fairy land. You need to take THE HORMONE you are wanting increase. Chinese herbs are great for garish, not boosting hormonal function. Total calories, fats & carbs will effect and determine hormone levels far more. The importance & need of supplements are far over stated. Not to mention you need to think about whether the money you spend on them is worth the POTENTIAL MINOR benefit that some supplements offer. Im more speaking of the performance based supplements (Creatine, Beta Alanine etc). The most important supplement for body composition & training performance is your DIET. Second to that, a beneficial supplement is one that supplements a dietary deficiency. Say you have a diet low in EFAs and this not a good thing, so supplementing with Fish Oils helps you meet your ESSENTIAL nutritional needs. Thirdly is for convenience in allowing for daily nutritional needs to be met. This is where protein powder is of great value and help. And lastly is the 1% supplements for training performance. Particular things like Creatine, Beta Alanine, Acetyl L Carnitine (not its not a fat burner or transporter!), L Tyrosine and a few others that are proven by science to help with performance. But they are by no means essential nor are you going to have enhanced like gainz etc. They are the 1%ers. You could spend your money far better on your diet. So when it comes to supplements, there are very few you that you ACTUALLY need. Oh but the guy in the supplement store said I needed this for vasodilation, glycogen replenishment, increased protein synthesis & blah blah blah. Of course he did, he HAS to sell you stuff to make money. And I should know, I was a supplement store bro - worker for years and sold everything under the sun. But then I got educated.....
