For all you teachers and aspiring teachers out there. MY VALENTINE Written by 10-year-old Stephen Herrerman to his 4th and 5th grade teacher Mrs. Cokinas is my teacher’s name. She bubbles all over like a glass of champagne. Wherever I see her, she’s happy and bright. But her horoscope says she’s good in a fight In reading, spelling and math, she’s a pro. I guess there’s not much that she doesn’t know. Most of the time she’s jolly and sweet, But this could change fast if your work’s incomplete. She keeps us kids busy in class and at home. Learning about Athens, Sparta and Rome. She also teaches us dancing and art. And strives to the goal of making us smart. She works hard, too, to plan fun things. Like panel dicussions and community sings. When we do a good job, we see a big smile, And we know she thinks teaching is really worthwhile. Who knows? Some president of the great USA, Will one day look back on his school days and say. “It was Mrs. Cokinas many years ago Who taught us to think, work and to grow So on the 14th of February and all of the time. This teacher I want for my own Valentine.
