For any who may be interested. The following is (a rather long) introduction to a novel, which, God willing, should soon be available in e-book format, and initially, anyway, a free download. At present, I have it in pdf, and would welcome a critical reader. .Introduction. Whilst considering the various options for my original book, ‘Genesis and the Rahab Conspiracy’, I came across a Christian publishing house who agreed to read it. Unfortunately, the subject matter didn’t meet their criteria, which was probably just a polite way of saying they wouldn’t endorse a topic of such controversial nature. However, they did make a suggestion, for if I were to re-write it as a sci-fi novel, and provided it was well written, they believed that it would be marketable and appeal to a wider readership. Initially I was somewhat disappointed, and in truth a little disgruntled. A sci-fi novel indeed! However, as I thought things through, I realised how a novel could actually provide an indirect way of raising awareness of an approaching time, which I fear will severely challenge our concept of the world around us. Envisage a time when the foundation of our reality, the basis upon which our world-view is built, begins to crumble. Consider a time when much that we’ve taken for granted, and much that we’ve been taught by our parents and school teachers, our men of science and men of the cloth, is overturned. Imagine such a scenario, and grapple with a new reality; that humanity has come under attack, and our framework of government, education, established religions and sciences, are faced with a major problem, and could even begin to dismantle. Why? because the world of mythology and nightmare has invaded our world of reality. An outrageous claim, maybe, but consider this; for there are many even within the church, which believe evolution to be a scientific and proven fact, but are unaware that an escalating number of their fellows, have come to the realization that Darwin’s Theory is a no-brainer, because it’s unworkable. Yet even as the feasibility of the theory disintegrates and disappears down the plug-hole, another rises to replace it. This fast growing new theory, no longer promotes that the ancestors of modern man once came down from the trees, but that they once came down from the stars. With this new teaching in mind, and of course if I’m correct about the challenge that lies ahead, then without a right and balanced understanding, the consequence for not only the traditional Creationist, but also the traditional Evolutionist, could be very dire indeed. More than that, and as drastic as it may sound, it will affect each and every person alive to one degree or another. But how would I go about it? It’s not that I dislike the genre for I’ve enjoyed many a good sci-fi novel or movie in my time. But when it comes to science and technology, my family consider me to be something of a ‘dinosaur.’ My mobile phone is precisely that, it travels where I do. Sure, it can receive and send texts, but otherwise does little else, and doesn’t even have a camera. Don’t get me wrong, I like my phone and think it’s a smart one, but evidently it isn’t. I’ve nothing against the progress of technology, far from it, but I tend to rely on my dear wife to programme the remote control with the TV etc., and when presented with a new gadget, have often jokingly remarked that it was only last year I added a battery to my quill pen. In other words, I’m not going to kid myself into thinking that I’m about to pen a science fiction novel, for I’m not in that league. This tale is woven around a timeline of events, some recorded in the Bible, some from secular sources. In addition, I’ve included modern day challenges and input from my imagination; so, if the story at times seems to be tongue in cheek, one can rest assured, that in part, it probably is. One theme in the story-line is from information found on the Internet, which I understand has been used on occasion in other novels, and whilst I’ve never read them myself, it’s not my intention to claim originality, or attempt to steal another man’s thunder. Perhaps the main purpose is to expose a coming delusion in story form. However, because by dictionary definition, the word ‘delusion’ means an ‘erroneous perception of reality’, when it arrives it will be difficult to recognize it for what it actually is, for it will come in the form of an undeniable reality which will ‘appear’ to support the ‘new theory’. And that of course is the problem, for how can something very solid and very real, deceive a person? Or simply put; if it feels like a rock and it looks like a rock, then how can it possibly not be a rock? This delusion will have the power to overturn much that we’ve taken for granted, and because its roots have stretched from an age long before our own, it’s had plenty of time to mature, and is about ready to bloom, in perhaps the not too distant future. The KJV contains a very timely teaching, which although many have recognized, at least in part over the years, has been overlooked by far the majority of the church, and has even been scorned as heresy. Because this teaching has been there since the translation was completed in 1611, it would be most unreasonable to claim it to be a new teaching, although it would be perfectly reasonable to claim that it differs from tradition. And that’s the problem, because the truth that emerges from this particular teaching, flies in the face of church tradition, and man has a tendency to allow his tradition to become hallowed ground. To step on man’s ‘hallowed ground’, can be a risky undertaking indeed. Due to a number of alterations in punctuation, or the omission of certain key words, this biblical truth is virtually impossible to find in most modern versions of the Bible, and because the majority of churches use these later versions and tend to shun the KJV, a problem has arisen. An extremely important truth, for the days in which we live, has remained concealed from many Christians. Although I realise that many would disagree, between the first two verses in the book of Genesis, there lies an unspecified and unexplained period of time. This time-gap may be relatively short, but on the other hand may be exceedingly long. The observable evidence in both the fossil and the geological record on our planet, strongly suggest that it’s the latter. Whilst not one myself, I understand that all scholars of Hebrew are in agreement; that the precise grammar used in Genesis 1:1 describes a physical Heaven and Earth that were both perfect and absolute at the time of creation. And here lies the problem, because the next verse describes the earth as being in a condition far from perfect. In fact, if taken literally, the term ‘without form and void’ in the Hebrew dictionary, presents a picture of a planet, barren and desolate, which seems to indicate that something happened between the first two verses in Genesis which isn’t immediately apparent. The OT tells of a mighty cherub named Lucifer, who in times past had a regal association with Earth, and even suggests that his sphere of influence may have covered nine planets. If that is a correct understanding, then Lucifer once ruled the Solar System. He certainly had a throne, according to the prophet Ezekiel, and a throne of course, speaks of kingship and dominion over others. More than that, the prophet Isaiah charges him with being the destroyer of cities, and holds him responsible for the world becoming a wilderness, which is exactly how the earth is described in the 2nd verse of Genesis. Now, the world becoming a wilderness, would obviously amount to a major event in Earth’s history, yet although it’s alluded to several times, the actual event is not recorded in the Bible. Why not? Logically the answer has to be something along the lines of; because the Bible is primarily a revelation of God’s redemptive plan and purpose for this present age which began around 6,500 years ago with Adam, then the historical events concerning Lucifer, must have occurred prior to this age. Or in other words, back in the period between the first two verses of Genesis. What is made clear however, is that this great Cherub and one third of all the angels, rebelled against God. At an undisclosed time after that rebellion, the destruction of something major occurred, and it is very likely that the ‘something’ was one of the nine planets. Whether the destruction was a direct or an indirect act of God, is not made clear, but whichever way round, it was a rebuke against Lucifer, and most certainly a judgement from the Almighty. Whilst it probably wouldn’t be acknowledged as having been an ‘act of God’, the ‘exploded planet’ hypothesis, is certainly not unrecognized in scientific circles, and a number of modern day astronomers have claimed that our Solar System contained an extra planet at some point in the distant past. Although the brief history presented of the Old Age is purely fictitious, the fiction itself is founded upon a few rather obscure Bible verses that seem to describe a major cataclysm of cosmic, rather than global, proportions. From that viewpoint, the 2nd verse of Genesis describes the aftermath of that event, where the earth is in total darkness, desolate and lifeless, and half submerged in water, that according to the Book of Job was frozen. Nowadays we refer to that time period as the Ice Age. God conceived the foundations of this present world, or age; one that began roughly 6-7 thousand years ago in Eden, and one which will culminate at the return of Christ. Due to a tragic turn of events in the Garden of Eden, that ancient and malevolent schemer, once known as Lucifer, was permitted legal access to this new age, and sin, followed closely by sickness and death, entered this world. However, he was no longer a king, but a prince, for in the NT he is given the title of both a ‘prince’ and a ‘god.’ We are told that he rules the kingdom of darkness, as ‘the prince of the power of the air’, or the ‘god of this age’. Jesus Christ came from beyond this Cosmos and entered our present age or world. He came as God in a human body, and his primary ‘mission’ was two-fold. He came to defeat the ‘god of this age’, and to ‘pay the penalty’ for man’s sin. Fortunately for mankind, Jesus accomplished his mission 100%. However, although it is guaranteed, the fullness of His victory will not be wholly experienced until after this present age, including the millennium, has run its course and reached its end. According to the Bible, although He has already broken the power of his enemies, Christ must reign until the final enemy, Death, is destroyed. 1Corintians 15: 25-26. For he must reign till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. Although to a Christian, it is Christ himself who is central to the whole of history, if there is a central character in the pages of this book, it’s an ancient malevolent being, who was a murderer and a liar from the start, and who was in the foreground of all pre-history. He was certainly lurking in the background in Adam’s day, and has been luring men into opposing and thwarting the plans and purposes of God ever since, in the vain hope that he might once again be ‘king.’ Much has been written, and a number of films released over the years, about subjects such as ‘666’ the mark of the beast, a single world government and currency, a universal religion, Armageddon etc. In fact, I think it’s probably fair to say that regardless of whether one is a Christian or not, most of us have a sense of morbid curiosity regarding the biblical apocalyptic end-times. But that surely, is a part of what makes us human. Whilst most of these subjects appear in the story-line, the themes are fictitious and not an attempt to predict how prophesied events will unfold. Likewise, any future date is not to suggest that certain things will occur at that time. I would also make clear, that any thoughts attributed to a real character, living or otherwise, are my own, but the character has been kept true to his setting. Some will be offended that fantasy is mixed with Scripture, and some offended that Scripture is mixed with fantasy, but in the famous words from poet John Lydgate, later adapted by President Lincoln, and appearing in various permutations: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. Bearing all this in mind, I invite the reader to embark upon a journey, a journey that began maybe millions of years in the past.
