For anyone who loves a good car crash, I thoroughly recommend Outcast. Its such a grand mistake of a movie that it deserves to be cherished. Hayden Christensen puts in a Star Wars prequel level performance as a disillusioned crusader (with a back story that is a little too much like Anakin Skywalker) who winds up in China and becomes the only hope for saving the new king. His accent travels around the British isles and winds up somewhere unexplored. Every edit seems to be a cross fade. There didnt seem to be a budget for collapsible blades or CGI so every close up of someone being stabbed just shows them being lightly poked with a blade. The depth of field is all screwed up, the interior shots often look like they are shot on home video, the accents travel further than the characters and handheld camera work shows up when least necessary. Most importantly Nicolas Cage is in it. Hes only on screen for about 30 minutes, but to make up for the lack of screen time he busts out MAXIMUM CAGE and plays his disillusioned crusader as Jack Sparrow crossed with that smelly guy down the end of the bar who wants to fight you. And he carries snakes for no other reason than NICOLAS CAGE! watch it
