For everyone who has ever asked me how I could possibly work as a Public Defender, I say to you, as always...because it is the most important job a lawyer can do. Legal and ethical misconduct by police and prosecutors alike happens every day. Coerced confessions from developmentally disabled and innocent defendants put one of these men in jail for life and one on death row. It is a travesty when those in power abuse their power...it is criminal when they can take your life while doing so. We have a long way to go, still...
