For generations a song’s 8-minute soundtrack is an adolescent romance. Financially, culturally, and musically it’s been towering, It’s earned at least $562 million. Album 23 million, more than any song, and it’s opening cadence is classical in feel which ensured immortality. What if the foundation of the band’s immortality had been lifted from another song by a relatively forgotten California band? In ‘68 a band ‘Spirit’ put out its first album, self-titled. Among the songs was an instrumental ‘Taurus,’ written by guitarist, Randy California.
