For info: Somerset Levels and Moors Flood Action Plan Beer Wall plans and work on the Sowy and KSD – Community Drop-in event Tuesday, 22 July, 3pm-7pm As part of the work taking pace to deliver the Flood Action Plan (FAP), The Environment Agency and Somerset County Council will be visiting Othery Village Hall on Tuesday, 22 July. The County Council will share its plans to build four new culverts under the A372 at Beer Wall. This will allow more water flow under the road which was closed for many weeks during the winter floods. The Environment Agency will be explaining and discussing a range of proposed wider River Sowy and Kings Sedgemoor Drain works. All of which aim to increase the capacity of the channels and reduce the risk and depth of future flooding. Please come along for the chance to speak to staff from the Environment Agency and the County Council about the projects, ask questions and discuss any concerns. All these planned works are part of the FAP, which is being delivered by a range of agencies coordinated by Somerset County Council. The FAP will guide water and land management policies and investment on the Levels and Moors for the next 20 years. The organisations working to deliver the Flood Action Plan are: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Environment Agency, Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), Natural England (NE), Sedgemoor District Council (SDC), Somerset County Council (SCC), Somerset Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs), South Somerset District Council (SSDC), Taunton Deane Borough Council (TDBC), Mendip District Council (MDC)
